When you walk down the street and see someone who’s homeless, that’s a life, that’s a story.

These tenderly-wrought vignettes make visible those we’ve trained ourselves not to see, residents of our city staggering under the weight of illness, addiction, and multiple losses… not only their troubles, but their delights—the magic of a thorn-apple tree, a spray of lilacs set into the hair, the joy of a homeless shelter transformed into a wedding chapel…a tribute to lives as textured and rich as our own.
